VIRTUOUS WOMAN - DAY 1

Scripture Reading : Proverbs 31:10-31

Does just reading about this woman make you tired?  Did she ever "waste" time?  It was much easier to stay on task back then as they did not have the distractions of today : TV, computer, recreation, etc.

What do you spend your time doing?  Do you get your daily tasks finished, or just get by?  I know I am guilty of that!

In our society today we can go to any store and pick out our own clothing, and head to the grocery store or fast food to provide a convenient meal.  Am I saying it is wrong to take advantage of these opportunities - certainly not!  However, we can abuse them.  Are you teaching your children how to cook?   Is your family eating together at the table?  Are you providing the physical and spiritual needs of your husband and children?

Reflect on these things for a few moments and pray upon them.  We can encourage one another to improve ourselves, and ultimately our families.

"Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised." - Proverbs 31:30

God bless.

Slow Cooker 7-Up Chicken

Yummy!!!  This is my hubby and I's new favorite, and it is easy.  Our kids LOVED the chicken, but they are not big on rice.  Of course I found it on Pinterest!!!  For those of you watching what you eat, like we are, this is a healthy meal.  Add veggies with dinner and you are all set.

WELCOME!!!

Welcome to my new blog!!!  I have never done anything like this before, so I am both excited and apprehensive.  My goal is that this blog will be beneficial to myself and to other women.

Lately I have been contemplating how I can improve myself in my duties as a wife and mother, and also grow closer to God.  I decided that I needed to take the time to study the scripture and review the guidelines that the Lord gives us for being a Godly woman.

What better place to start than Proverbs 31 and the example of the virtuous woman.  This has always been an inspirational passage to me, yet one that seems overwhelming.  It should be seen as an example of how to praise the Lord and use the wisdom He provides. I know for one that I am not a seamstress or a gardener.  However, I have purchased a sewing machine in the hopes that I can learn that trade.

She accomplished many things, but in the end it was her wisdom, constant love for the Lord, and the praise of her husband and children that were her joy. It should be our prayer that our families will feel the same way as time goes on.

Life can be so overwhelming for women seeking to please those she loves most.  Our charge involves so many different tasks :  cooking, cleaning, nurturing, teaching, organizing, disciplining, and more.  That is a tall order for anyone, whether you are a stay-at-home mom, or you are in a position where you work away from home.

The goal of my blog is to hold myself accountable for striving to do better. My hope is that it will help you too.  Each week I will focus on a different woman found in the Bible and her example set forth for us.   I will provide short passage readings and a few thoughts.  This will provide an opportunity for some self-reflection and prayer.

I will also be posting other helpful items :  recipes, organizing tips, household hints, inspirations for women, and much more.

I hope you will join me in this journey.  I have challenged myself........are you willing to join me?

You can check back daily, or sign up via email to receive new blog posts. Please pass on to anyone you think could use some encoragement too. There will be days that I don't post, but I will do my best to stay on task!

FYI - This should be the longest post ever!!!!  I just felt the need to explain my purpose.  I am now going to follow up with a few examples of my future posts.

God bless you and keep you.

Love
Shanon
